When you’re tidying up, what to keep and what to toss is a difficult choice.I’m a big fan of organization. I like lists and order and, I never, ever leave my bed unmade in the morning. However, I also like to buy things – I’m a bit of a shopaholic. Things like shoes, tops and dresses I only wear once and at the end of each season, I have a huge pile with clothes that have been only worn once.
I’ve been reading a lot lately about the concept of minimalism and I actually really like this idea. The first step to minimalism is throwing away things you don’t need and this can be really difficult but no worries, organization specialist Marie Kondo has come up with the KonMari method of cleaning to make everything a little bit easier. What is the KonMari method, you ask? Well, first of all: It’s awesome!
The KonMari method, as Marie Kondo has named her method, is actually very simple: keep the items that make you happy, and get rid of those that don’t. This system leaves precious little room for excuses: no maybe-I’ll-wear-it-someday or but-I-got-it-as-a-gifts.
You will start with a massive pile of clothing on your floor as an opportunity for self-reflection. The “tidying festival,” as she calls it, begins with emptying your wardrobe—all of it—into one place, next you let go things to make room for the things that matter. Isn’t that an amazing feeling?

#4 “TREAT YOUR POSSESSIONS AS IF THEY WERE ALIVE”
#5 “YOUR POSSESSIONS REFLECT YOUR STATE OF MIND”

For me, this method gives a special sort of power and brings positivity in my life. Marie Kondo encourages us to celebrate the present. You reclaim power over your possessions; your possessions have no power over you!
