Six Secrets To Having A Good Hair Day Every DayAs odd as this may sound, apple cider vinegar is the new must have for every girl’s beauty cupboard. The all-natural, multi-tasking ingredient is becoming the newest product to help you look your best – from preventing acne to making nail polish last longer, and that’s just for starters. In order to get the full benefits, it is important to use raw organic apple cider vinegar, as this contains raw enzymes and gut-friendly bacteria that promote healing. Check out all the ways this kitchen staple will totally transform your hair and beauty regime.

#1 Facial toner and acne remedy

Apple cider vinegar contains natural antibacterial and antiseptic properties, making it a perfect ingredient to use on acne prone skin as a natural toner. It balances pH levels of the skin whilst the malic and lactic acid found within the vinegar are crucial in gently exfoliating to give you softer feeling skin.
Mix one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with three teaspoons of water. Moisten a cotton pad and wipe over entire face, avoiding the eye area. Leave on for ten minutes, rinse and repeat twice more during the day for maximum effect.

#2 Face mask

Home-made face masks are great natural remedies for helping to prevent acne breakouts whilst hydrating the skin. Apple cider vinegar is a key ingredient to add into a home-made mask as the alpha hydroxyl acids in the vinegar help to unclog skin pores, stimulate circulation and dissolve dead skin cells.

Other ingredients include green tea, sugar and honey. The sugar within the mask is key as it works as a natural exfoliant that breaks up dead skin cells and unclogs pores. Whilst the green tea is packed with antioxidants to help maintain fresh and glowing skin and the honey is key for nourishing and hydrating the skin.

To make the face mask, simply add one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, two teaspoons of cooled green tea, five teaspoons of sugar, one teaspoon of honey and stir. Spread the mask on the face with a cotton pad, and leave for ten minutes before rinsing off with water. For best results, use this face mask once or twice a week.

#3 Hair rinse

Ever felt like your hair was starting to become dull and heavy, even after washing out all your shampoo and conditioner? This could be down to product build up and apple cider vinegar could be the key to giving you shiny, luscious locks again. It contains acetic acid which, when applied to your scalp, removes excess build up left from shampoos, conditioners and styling products.

Mix together two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with one cup of water, and pour over hair after washing. Massage into scalp, and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing thoroughly; this addition to your haircare routine should leave you with shiny luscious locks. It is also thought to relieve dandruff when applied directly to the scalp.

#4 Soothing bubble bath

Adding one or two capfuls of apple cider vinegar into your bath in the evening will help to give you a nice and relaxing soak. The vinegar helps to draw toxins out of the body, leaving you with toned and moisturised skin.

#5 Teeth whitener

Now apple cider vinegar may not have the nicest of tastes but if you can bear it, then gargling it in the morning, can have an excellent effect on your teeth. The vinegar helps to remove stains and whiten teeth whilst killing bacteria in your mouth and gums. Brush as usual after you’ve gargled, it’s basically a very strong tasting mouthwash!

My grandma used to swear by vinegar! She used to rub her joints with it to sooth her arthritis, I’m definitely going to try it in my hair now though!

It will also reduce the likelihood of peeling and lessen the pain from sunburns. ACV has been a regular part of my beauty stash for years, I am glad to see everyone else catching on.
