When Friday evening rolls around, there’s nothing we want to do more snuggle up on the couch and watch some Netflix. You may have big plans for the weekend, but on Friday, the only big plans we want is some downtime from the stressful week. We feel you.
But it’s tough to know where to start and what to watch on Netflix right now, there’s just so much good stuff. Don’t worry, we’ve got the best things to watch on Netflix right now depending on your mood.
IF YOU FEEL: NOSTALGIC
Take a peek at Stranger Things. Okay, everyone knows Stranger Things by now. If you haven’t already made your way through Season 3, now is the time. With its retro eighties feel, incredible soundtrack, and creepy monsters, Stranger Things is definitely worth the hype. It’s a good mixture of gross and scary, comedy, romance, and cute kids. Who can say no to that?
IF YOU FEEL: IN THE MOOD FOR ROMANCE
Always Be My Maybe is the perfect rom-com for the 21st century. Two kids who grow up next to each other lose contact and only get back in touch when one of them is a high flying celebrity chef, and the other one is still living his teenage life. If you need a romantic pick-me-up, this film will help you chill out, and make you feel warm and fuzzy.
IF YOU FEEL: LIKE GETTING YOUR MIND BLOWN
Black Mirror is always good for blowing your mind, and Season Five is definitely something to watch if you want to feel slightly uncomfortable about the world around you. This season takes place slightly in the future, and is all about the future we should have seen coming. With big names like Miley Cyrus this season, there’s a lot to love. It’ll leave you wanting more.
IF YOU FEEL: LIKE SOMETHING CREEPY
You is returning for a second season soon, so you should really watch it now. Featuring Penn Badgley as a creepy stalker who looks like a harmless boyfriend, You will remind you not to take anyone at face value. Wait till you see what he keeps in his bathroom ceiling!
IF YOU FEEL: LIKE HAVING YOUR HEART WARMED
Netflix’s Queer Eye has it all, life-changing transformations and a fab five that we are OBSESSED WITH. If you like makeover shows, you’ll love this. The fab five teach people how to love themselves, be who they always wanted to be, and look damn good while doing it. From the man who wants to win his ex-wife back, to a young man’s emotional open letter to his dead father, this series is full of moments that will pull your heartstrings.
IF YOU FEEL: LIKE SEEING THE CRAZINESS OF THE WORLD
Dark Tourist is New Zealand’s answer to Louis Theroux documentaries. Follow David Farrier as he goes to places no sane person would go, puts himself in dangerous situations and shows you the world beyond what we see, beyond the shiny surface of tourism. It’s so interesting and enlightening, you’ll never get another glimpse of the world like it – unless you fancy following in his footsteps, that is?
IF YOU FEEL: LIKE GIVING YOURSELF A BOOST
Sit down and watch Jane The Virgin, from season one if you’ve never seen it before. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by this telly novella style story about Jane, a virgin who gets pregnant (it’s as whacky as it sounds honestly). Follow her as she’s thrown in with a whole new family and a whole new man (the baby’s father) and see how she deals with the ups and downs of her new life. If you were a fan of Ugly Betty, you’ll love this.
IF YOU FEEL: LIKE SLEEPING WITH THE LIGHTS ON
It’s not too late to watch the program that everyone’s talking about, The Haunting Of Hill House. This new, terrifying and heartbreaking show will scare you, so it’s recommended watching if you have someone to hide behind. This TV show has been such a smash there’s going to be another one about another haunting – so that just goes to show you how good it actually is!
