What’s New On Netflix: Everything You Need To Binge Watch Right Now

@harperandharley

There’s nothing better than an evening at home, shutting the bad weather out and watching something that captures your imagination and makes you feel cozy. At this time of year, it should be considered medicine, because switching off and watching TV after a busy day is just what the metaphorical doctor ordered.

With so much on Netflix these days, you could be forgiven for not knowing where to start. Don’t worry, these are the best new things to watch on Netflix right now, and some releases coming up in the next few weeks.

1. The Holiday Calendar

Deliciously cheesy, this film stars Kat Graham as a struggling photographer who’s too afraid to make big leaps in her life and leave her job to pursue her dreams. Her grandfather gives her an antique calendar that isn’t what it seems, and the magic it possesses helps her to find out what she really wants from life, and leads her to her ‘true love’. A nice and inoffensive Christmas movie – there’s nothing better!

2. The Princess Switch

Harking back to the good old days of The Parent Trap, Vanessa Hudgens switches roles with a princess who looks exactly like her in this cheesy but fun Christmas rom-com. If you need a boost and want some easy watching. Catch this now and get into the Christmas mood.

3. The Christmas Chronicles

Siblings Kate and Teddy Pierce have a love/hate relationship, they hatch a scheme to film proof of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, but inadvertently sabotage his plans to deliver all the toys. This is a good film to watch with the whole family, especially if you have younger family members, as it’ll capture the spirit of Christmas, but doesn’t require too much thought.

4. A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding

Remember the hype that surrounded A Christmas Prince? Well, it’s back for better or worse with the Royal Wedding chapter. As you can imagine, marrying into the Royal Family is no easy feat, and this film is all about staying true to yourself when marrying a Prince. Which, we can imagine, might be a little difficult. Catch it now on Netflix.

5. Mowgli

This reimagination of Mowgli features some top names like Cate Blanchett and Benedict Cumberbatch, and toes the line between humanity and nature. While critics are divided, it’s definitely a must watch if you’re looking for something compelling to sit down on the sofa with and watch in one go.

6. Dumplin’

This comedy film looks amazing! We can’t wait to watch this film about the plus-sized daughter of a former beauty pageant queen who decides to sign up to the pageant as a rebellion. It looks funny, wholesome, and well worth a watch – and did we mention it stars Jennifer Aniston. Catch this one as soon as you can!

7. The Holiday

That’s right, The Holiday is new to Netflix. The perfect Christmas film to snuggle up with. Starring Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz who decide to swap houses after both experiencing heartbreaks, despite wanting to move to a place with absolutely no men, both of them find love in different places, surprisingly!

8. Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: A Midwinter’s Tale

If you’ve binged Sabrina like I did, there’s nothing like a little bit of an alternative Christmas Special over the holiday season. This spooky (and a little bit scary!) adaptation of Sabrina is back on the 14th December and will show the church of Satan celebrating the winter solstice. Great if you want to get a bit creeped out.

9. The Innocent Man

In a similar vein, The Innocent Man is being heralded as the new Making a Murderer. This six-part series is coming around 14th December and focuses on two murders that shocked a small town in Oklahoma during the 1980s. Thriller writer John Grisham wrote his best-selling non-fiction book, The Innocent Man: Murder and Injustice in a Small Town about this one, so you can imagine it’s going to be juicy.
