I know when you read this title you’ll probably think I’ve gone crazy. But it’s actually something I had to think about lately while I was in Florence with the CGD team. During our stay, I saw women who were struggling in all areas of life, from choosing whether to quit their job to managing their to-do list and learning how to dress to impress. I saw that women of all ages have their weaknesses and insecurities.
It sounds weird but for me this was a huge eye opener. I always thought: ‘When you’re in your 30’s or 40’s you will have your act together and you’ll be the most confident creature on this planet.’ I saw elegant women of the world hitting their late twenties and beyond and being strong, powerful and because of their life experience knowing how to handle every situation with class.
For CGD, we go to many conferences and events and I get the chance to meet so many different women of all ages and they ALL struggle with their insecurities. This sudden realization actually blew my mind. So we don’t have our act together after 30? I honestly think the well-known insecurities of our twenties will disappear to make room for new ones. Kids, husbands, mortgages. For me, this realization made me breathe a little easier because I started to go a little easier on myself.
There are women all over the world who look as if they’ve seriously got it together, but they all have their own worries, troubles and insecurities – that’s a fact. Although you might actually be wiser about certain aspects of life, you won’t be worry free! Actually, the real message is to embrace whatever age you are! We can all learn from each other, and help each other out with the struggles we face. For example, the advice you read on CGD is written by women of all ages.
