You NEED To Try This Surprising New Beauty Ingredient

If you’d told me mushrooms would be a beauty trend in 2015, I would probably have laughed at you. As someone who doesn’t even eat them when they’re on her dinner plate, you’d have a hard time convincing me that I should start slathering them on my face, but it turns out that mushrooms actually are pretty good for your skin, which makes them a wonder beauty product. Here’s why you need to try this surprising new beauty ingredient asap!

Mushroom is a superfood for your skin!

There’s a reason that mushroom has sneaked its way into your favourite beauty products, from Clinique Redness Solutions Instant Relief Powder to Colbert MD Nutrify & Protect Day Serum. Mushroom is a luxurious superfood for your skin. It contains a polysaccharide that hydrates and plumps skin, can combat acne, is often used for sore skin conditions like eczema as it’s soothing and anti-inflammatory and is good for anti-ageing. It’s perfect for anyone with sensitive skin, providing it’s used without other harsh chemicals.

3. Jurlique Nutri-Define Multi Correcting Day Cream
4. Colbert MD Nutrify & Protect Day
5. Clinique Redness Solutions Instant Relief Mineral Pressed Powder
6. Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield
7. Origins Mega Mushroom Skin Relief Face Mask

A serum containing mushroom is the ultimate makeup base!

My favourite at the moment is Colbert MD Nutrify & Protect Day Serum, it contains Tremella Mushroom and Goji berries which make it a wonder product for plump, smooth and hydrated skin. I use it in the morning as a base to my makeup if I’m going for a dewy, hydrated look. It smells amazing (even got the boyfriend seal of approval for its scent), comes in a super chic bottle and makes my skin soft, smooth and refreshed!

I’ve never heard of that before! Normally, mushrooms land in my mouth first :)
I’m sticking to a very similar skin care routine for quite a while now and I’m happy with it, but this sounds promising. As a model, it’s important for me to have good skin so I am kind of careful when it comes to choose the right products. I’m the “less is more” kind of type. :)

    Have a lovely Tuesday!

    • Hi, Kat. From what I’ve heard mushroom is a pretty good ingredient in beauty products. I don’t know much about the science, only what I’ve read online but I can tell you I love to try new things! Sometimes it’s best to stick to what you know, though! :) xx

I’m just wondering how these products preserve the mushroom ingredients long enough for the product to stay fresh. I know that mushrooms rot so easily after 2 days of being exposed to the air. It’s good to know it has anti-aging properties though, I’d just like to know more about the science behind it!

    • :) I agree, it’s definitely something to look into. I’m sure they preserve it with some kind of chemical, I’ll have to ask someone who understands it a bit better. For now, all I know is it’s great for your skin and depending on the product you choose – can work wonders! x

Love skincare ingredients found in nature, ‘the theory goes’ that nature stays out there in crazy wind/rain/storms/floods/sun/heat and still looks awesome, so there must be powerful stuff in there… which there absolutely is!!! Kojji acid is another mushroom extract found in Shitake mushrooms, that one is a skin brightener and soother too! I also love colloidal (ground up super crazy small) oatmeal, that actually heals skin (by activating skins immune system) AND instantly balances skin pH, which is the cause of lots of skin problems!!
